SB918 Failed – How this is being portrayed to the People of California
This is a guest post by Karla Talley, Executive Director of Inland Empire Gun Owners.
SB 918 FAILED to obtain the votes to pass, 52 yea 23 Nay. (54 yea votes were required to pass this Bill).
This is great news, but the fight is still going strong and there is still A LOT of work ahead of us. I don’t think this will go away so easily unless we are able to flip the House and Senate in November.
Last month, we sent a letter to the Attorney General's office submitting a request under the California Public Records Act, requesting copies of communications regarding the breach of personal information of CCW holders in California.
The Public Records Act gives the public the right to access communications, documents, and more about almost in anything the government, and it's our biggest tool other than lawsuits to force them to comply.
Unfortunately, government politicians and bureaucrats do whatever they can to slow-roll or outright deny these requests -- particularly when the request seeks information that makes them look bad. As expected - the said no.
"In response to a PRA request, the Department may withhold certain records when the public interest served by not disclosing the records clearly outweighs the public interest," they wrote.
Your support for San Diego County Gun Owners is more important than ever, and means more than ever. Your membership allows us to represent gun owners as one voice to the media and to politicians, allowing us to be an effective champion for your Second Amendment rights! Please consider joining today.
We are looking for more mentors at our upcoming shooting socials! You do not need to be an expert - it is just like taking a friend or neighbor to the shooting range to help them with a safe, first-time shooting experience. You just need to bring your eye and ear protection, a full-size handgun, and a smile. Everything else is provided!
Our "Gun Shop Table Top" program is one of our most effective ways to reach out to current and new members. Volunteering is fun and easy! We provide all the materials you need, and all you have to do is show up. You would be passing out literature about the organization, signing up people for our mailing list, and sharing information about membership.
We have some amazing Table Top Leads who do an amazing job setting up and making sure you have everything you need! This is an incredibly valuable way to give back to the Second Amendment community and support San Diego County Gun Owners!
Join us at the Inland Empire Gun Owners Second Amendment Celebration Dinner in just a few months at March Air Force Museum in Riverside.
Tickets are available NOW! Visit the IEGO website to learn more today.
We also want to give you PLENTY of notice to block off your calendars and make sure you can attend... Our 7th Annual Second Amendment Celebration Dinner will be Saturday, September 16, 2023!
