San Diego City Council Confirms Safe Storage of Firearms Law
On Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at 10:00 am, the San Diego City Council once again put their jobs aside in favor of politics. The ordinance passed with a vote of 7 to 2. Only Councilmembers Chris Cate and Scott Sherman voted against this ordinance.
The law would requires all residents of the City of San Diego to store their firearms locked, inside a safe, or otherwise inoperable inside their house unless they are touching the firearm or “in control”. It is very vague and left a lot undefined. San Diego County Gun Owners Board Member Barb Starr put together and gave a strong presentation, debunking the myths that the proponents of this ordinance were pushing. We also had some great statements given by several SDCGO members. Thank you to all those who spoke, and also a big thank you to those who ceded their time to SDCGO for our presentation.
Remember, the fight is not over. We can avoid laws like Safe Storage of Firearms by getting the right people elected… candidates that are pro-Second Amendment. Election season is coming up. If you believe this law is unfair, help stop this from happening again and again by committing to supporting pro-Second Amendment candidates in the next election.
SDCGO will release our 2020 Voter Guide in October. Support these candidates with your time, your money, and your voice.
Together, We Will Win!
