Expecting Different Results from More of the Same

When faced with a complex problem, people tend to repeatedly apply various versions of the same solutions that have failed in the past believing that a different result will be achieved this time around. There’s an old colloquialism having to do with insanity that describes this approach.

We see this phenomenon again as the country recovers from the grotesquely sensationalized and politicized murder of 22 innocents in Uvalde Texas. Predictably, the Democrats and the far-left extremists in control of that party are laser focused on more gun-control. More of something that doesn’t work, has never worked, and will not even contribute to preventing the next mass murder event. More of the same and expecting different results.

But this is not about increasing public safety or reducing violent crime or preventing future mass murder events. It’s not even about gun control. It’s about disarming law-abiding Americans so that they can be more easily controlled and eventually ruled. All Americans will likely lose more of their rights, freedom, and liberty in the coming weeks as a result of the successful politization of this recent tragic event.

So how should rational Americans who love and cherish their country and truly care for the safety and happiness of their fellow Americans react to this? How should we react to befuddled, confused, or just plain dishonest Democrat politicians spewing nonsense about guns? How should we react to idiot Hollywood actors who’ve recently moved back to Texas and now consider themselves gun policy experts pleading that we “just do something”?

Americans who care about the future of the country can do the following:

  • Make it clear dishonest or willfully ignorant politicians of either party will no longer be tolerated and that gun owners will no longer tolerate being demonized. Republican Rep. Chris Jacobs from New York’s 27th congressional district decided to support Democrat gun-control legislation in the wake of the Uvalde murders. Republicans and conservatives in his district immediately withdrew their support causing Jacobs to announce his retirement. That’s how it’s done
  • Demand the real problem be addressed with plausible solutions. Our society creates the monsters who carry out attacks like we saw in Uvalde. They are the product of a complex combination of events and influences, probably beginning at birth, but in the end the root problem is a mental health issue, not a gun issue. We’re the most advanced society on earth and we have one of the worst mental health systems on the planet. Over the last 60 years, the number of beds available at psychiatric hospitals in America has dropped by 96 percentWe can’t solve the problem until our leaders acknowledge the problem and stop politicizing these tragedies for political gain
  • Demand the effort be truly bipartisan rather than just the Democrats demanding more gun-control and cowardly swamp Republicans surrendering our rights. To have a truly bipartisan effort the discussion should include ending gun free school zones, adopting national reciprocity, and restoring the ability of school districts, working with local law enforcement and parents, to decide how to best protect their students.
  • Support politicians who are standing up for the country. Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La), himself a victim of a violent lunatic, blasted Democrats for politicizing Uvalde to advance their gun-control agenda and rightly calling their red-flag laws unconstitutional. He should be applauded.

These are just a few things Americans should be demanding of their elected representatives. All Americans could be impacted by this event with the further erosion of our rights, liberty, and freedom, things allegedly protected by a constitution that is increasingly ignored and being made meaningless.

Given the pending SCOTUS 2A opinion and the likely legislative results from this recent tragedy, the rights of all Americans are likely to change significantly in the coming weeks, the question is will they change for better or worse?

The right to self-defense is a basic human right. Gun ownership is an integral part of that right. If you want to keep your rights defend them by joining San Diego County Gun Owners (SDCGO) in San Diego, Orange County Gun Owners (OCGO) in Orange County, and Inland Empire Gun Owners (IEGO) in the Inland Empire. Support the cause by listening to Gun Owners Radio live on Sunday afternoon or on the internet at your leisure. Join the fight and help us restore and preserve our second amendment rights. Together we will win.
