Important CCW Information
The response to COVID-19 has slowed the process of getting a CCW, but the San Diego Sheriff’s Department is still issuing CCW permits. Repeat: SDSO is still issuing CCW permits.
What you need to know-
If you don’t have a CCW yet. If you have not applied for your California CCW, start by checking out our instructional video explaining how here: www.SDCGO.org/CCW
If you are currently in the application Process. If you have started the process of getting your CCW, confirm that you have an appointment by emailing CCW@SDSheriff.org. They are processing applications, but their appointment dates are really just placeholders. They will contact you with our actual date (which may or may not be the date they give you as a placeholder).
Note: If you started the process and have never entered your information into their online application system, Permitium, please do that now by clicking here.
If you need to renew. If you are due to renew, begin the renewal process 6 to 8 weeks prior. They are very backed up and there is a possibility that your permit could expire before you can renew. If that happens, you cannot carry until they renew.
2) Call your CCW instructor and let them know you need to take a 4 hour renewal course.
SDCGO Monthly Meeting Last Night!
We had a great monthly meeting last night! We covered lots of great developments happening in our world, including updates about CCWs, our continually expanding perks program, #NotMeSD, #WhatTheGun, our awesome shooting social last week and more upcoming shooting socials, and more!

Blog: Lessons from a Detroit Self-Defense Incident
Yet another video of an innocent couple defending themselves with a firearm is sweeping the internet. The video captures a woman being threatened by an unhinged teenager and her equally unhinged mother (normal people don’t chase others through a parking lot screaming at them). The victim draws a legally carried firearm in self-defense. Fortunately the incident ends with no injuries, however, as is now common in our society, the innocent couple is under vicious attack by various elements of society. There are many lessons we who carry can learn from this incident. It is on those lessons that we’ll focus.
