Up until this week, SDCGO and the Town & Country felt positive the dinner on August 15 (Gun Prom) would happen. We even moved the dinner entirely outdoors so that we would be fully in compliance with everything the State, County, and City requested.
However… we were just informed that our dinner has to be postponed (NOT cancelled) again.
The new date is October 3, 2020, at 5pm (not 5:30pm) at the Town & Country in Mission Valley.
We are very sorry for the reschedule, but we are NOT giving up, despite the ridiculous games the State and County are playing. We were truly blindsided by this, but not stopped.
We have confirmed 750 guests for our dinner, so we want to make sure you know exactly what our postponement means to you, our guest.
You Still Have a Seat or Table! Your seat or table at our dinner is good and valid for our new date. There is no action that needs to be taken other than make sure the new date is on your calendar. (October 3, 2020)
Need a Refund? If you need a refund for any reason, please email Wendy@sdcgo.org and she will get you refunded as soon as we are able and without delay. Of course, we are hoping to see each of you, but if you request a refund, we will not ask any questions. We will refund you as soon as we are able to get it processed. Expect less than a week.
Why Did This Happen? And Why Now??? We have been in contact with the Town & Country on a regular basis for months. The regulations appear to allow for outdoor dining with no maximum number of people, given social distancing and guests wearing masks on their way to their table. But the County and State are magically categorizing our dinner as not a dinner and frankly, I cannot get any elected officials to stand up for us and the venue.
After much discussion with the venue, their legal department, and our own lawyer…we decided to move the date rather than compromise the integrity of the event. Everyone enjoys our event; we are positioned to have the biggest and best one we have ever had. Unfortunately, it is during a year of unprecedented weirdness.
Tickets Still on Sale? Yep! This does mean there is more time to purchase tickets for our new date, October 3rd. Visit GunProm.com to buy your tickets today.
We appreciate, very much, your patience and understanding. Truly. All we want to do is have an event that brings people of all walks of life together to celebrate the Second Amendment.
On a personal note, I heard from one of our members who was asking about the dinner. He was fully supportive of us having it and complying with the requirements to have an outdoor dinner, but he also told me that he didn’t know if masks work or don’t work to protect against COVID-19 and he certainly didn’t know what the best way to stop a pandemic is. What he does know is that he is in his 70s and if he catches a virus that causes pneumonia, it could be fatal for him. So as much as he wanted to, he just couldn’t attend the dinner and thought it best that he stay at home. He wasn’t the first one to say this to me.
I understand his fear and felt bad that he could not be included this year. Inclusion is what our organization and dinner is all about. Yes, we have 750 confirmed guests right now and we are probably headed for 800 by the time the doors open. As I write this, I am receiving notifications that people are buying tickets for our dinner today. But if some of our members feel they cannot attend because of what’s going on in the world, I think it is worth the delay.
The only thing I can promise is that we will not cancel this dinner and that we will work hard to make it an amazing, good time. Join me in being frustrated with California and their leadership, but more importantly, join me on October 3 at our dinner and help us change California from the bottom up.
Together, We Will Win.

Throwback Blog: How Fragile Our Rights
This blog article was written at the beginning of the pandemic, but is still so relevant. We thought we’d refresh your memory.
In the words of Rahm Emanuel “Never allow a crisis to go to waste”. The anti-Second Amendment folks are taking Emanuel’s words to heart. Amid the growing (and mostly manufactured) COVID-19 crisis we again see calls to restrict the Second Amendment (2A).
