Submit Your Comment Today
Friend– I have an extremely important request to make of you. I need you to submit a comment TODAY to oppose a proposal that could silence voices of gun owners in elections and by doing so, threaten our Second Amendment rights!
Every ten years after the Census, the lines for Congress, State Senate, and State Assembly districts are redrawn. Right now we have solid Second Amendment supporters in the rural and East County seats in San Diego county.
Unfortunately, under the new maps, the rural and East County seats are completely torn apart and shoved into densely urban areas in a way that makes no sense. We’re not a partisan organization, but it is clear that this map proposal is specifically designed so Democrats can eliminate all five Republican districts in San Diego and eliminate our Second Amendment supporters!
Here’s the action you need to take: I’m asking every San Diego County Gun Owners member to immediately send an email (using the link below) into the California Redistricting Commission to OPPOSE the current map being proposed and suggest a better map that reflects natural community ties in San Diego county.
Once you click the link below, here are the instructions for submitting your comments:
STEP 1: Fill out your name, indicate you are an individual, that the community you are providing feedback for is “Fallbrook and Bonsall, CA” and for the “Type of feedback” drop down option say you are providing “Feedback on Visualizations”
STEP 2: Under the “What would you like to share with the Commission” box, please use your own words to state how long you have lived in your area. In your response please include these specific points – and feel free to use your own words if you’d like:
REQUIRED: “I strongly oppose your proposed redistricting maps. Instead, I strongly urge you to adopt the San Diego County Communities of Interest Redistricting Map proposal located at SDCountyRedistrictingMap.org.”
SELECT ONE OR MORE:
“Your proposed map silences the voice and perspectives of rural and agricultural areas in San Diego county by splitting them up and tossing them into separate districts where their votes are diluted.”
“Your proposed map shows a complete lack of understanding regarding the communities of interest in San Diego County. For example, you put the rural-interface communities of Santee and Lakeside into the same State Senate District as the densely urbanized Hillcrest. In another map you put the rural-interface communities of Escondido and Valley Center into the coastal communities of La Jolla and Coronado. This is a clear example of your attempt to dilute the rural voices in our country by diluting them with coastal and urban areas that have nothing in common with rural living.”
“Your proposed map splits apart the long-standing community of interest known as East County. East County includes El Cajon, Alpine, Jamul, Lakeside, Santee, Poway, Ramona, and all areas to the Imperial County line including Borrego Springs. These East County communities should be in the same Congressional, State Senate, and Assembly Districts.”
“Your proposed map splits up the Tri-City area of Oceanside, Carlsbad and Vista which silences the voice of this long-standing community of interest. At the least put the Tri-City area in the same State Assembly and State Senate seats as has long been the practice.”
“Your proposed map splits up the I-15 North communities into separate districts when these communities have strong ties and bonds. Please keep Temecula, Fallbrook, Bonsall, Rainbow, Valley Center, and Escondido in the same Congressional, State Senate, and State Assembly Districts.”
“For State Senate and Congressional maps, please keep the rural and agricultural cities and areas united together which would combine East County rural areas of El Cajon, Poway, Lakeside, Santee, Alpine and Ramona with North County Rural areas of Escondido, San Pasqual Valley, Bonsall, Fallbrook, Valley Center and Rainbow.”
IMPORTANT: Please do not raise the issue of guns as issues and partisanship are strictly prohibited as the basis for drawing these maps.
