Huge Victory for Gun Owners across San Diego!
On Tuesday, San Diego County Gun Owners (SDCGO) endorced candidate for La Mesa City Council won in a special election and she won BIG! Laura Lothian came in first place by 20 percentage points, beating the other 5 candidates. Lothian is now the newest council member in La Mesa and SDCGO is proud of everything we did to get her elected.
Why did she win?
SDCGO is proud of the work we did to make this victory happen. Victory in an election is all about voter turnout. We spent money and did activities to ensure that more of our voters turned up to vote than their voters. We reached out to people we could identify as being pro Second Amendment and we told them how to vote. We went to houses we knew had pro Second Amendment voters and we told them how to vote. As a result, the voter turnout exceeded expectations and Laura Lothain received more votes than all the other candidates.
This is activism. This is how you win elections, even in tough districts. This is why you are (or should be) a member of San Diego County Gun Owners.
It is time to put away the idea that we cannot win in California because of voter fraud. The race in La Mesa was massively important and completely mail-in. If ever there was a race that the other side should have stolen, this was it. The more our side says that we cannot win even if we try, the less our voters will try. That is a sure way to lose every race.
We worked hard. We won. Let’s do it again in every race from here on out.
Thank you to all our members for supporting our efforts. A special thank you to our members who showed up to help!
Let’s take a minute to celebrate, but let’s all commit to getting involved in 2022 for the June and November election get-out-the-vote activities with SDCGO.
Together, We Will Win!

Groundbreaking Opinion Issued!
Below is the transcript from the New York Rifle and Pistol Association vs New York lawsuit. The case was heard Tuesday in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. Believe it or not, San Diego County Gun Owners PAC played a small part in the discussion.
Starting at page 34, Justice Breyer gets into a discussion about the possibility of increased violence if people are allowed to have CCW permits. Attorney Paul Clement, arguing for the New York State Rifle & Pistol association points out that the statistics don’t reflect that in shall issue states there is an increase in violence. There is a reference to Chicago, which is a shall issue jurisdiction. Justice Kagan then jumps in and tries to tie Chicago gun violence (from illegal guns) to shall issue CCW permits. Clement artfully responds that no other jurisdiction with a shall issues CCW policy results in increased violence and he cites San Diego.
San Diego County Gun Owners essentially turned San Diego into a “shall issue” jurisdiction, although no jurisdiction in California can truly be considered “shall issue” until we get rid of the “proof of good cause” requirement. There has been no increase in violence from CCW permit holders since the policy change. San Diego, thanks to San Diego County Gun Owners, serves as the poster child for why shall issue should be the statewide and country wide policy.
Take the time to read the arguments if you haven’t already and get involved. Focusing on all that is wrong is easy. Being the one of the ones to restore and protect our Second Amendment rights is hard, but we are doing it every day in San Diego County, Orange County, and in the Inland Empire.
Students will learn the Legal, Moral, Ethical, and Safe deployment of the OC agents. Topics covered are situational awareness, (color codes) legality, liability, and safe handling, deployment techniques, first aid, and post contamination procedures. Contamination/Exposure Drill is not required to complete the course.

Constitutional Carry, the ability to carry concealed without obtaining the states permission, is sweeping the country. At present there are 21 Constitutional Carry states. Legislatures in several other states are currently considering the idea.
Last week I wrote an article on Constitutional Carry and we were discussing the article on the radio show. I mentioned that I supported Constitutional Carry but had one slight reservation. When asked about my reservation I stated that I was concerned that without any permit or training requirement some people may not understand the laws and inadvertently get themselves in trouble.
