MAJOR Civil Rights Victory in NYSRPA v. Bruen
This morning, the Supreme Court issued a ruling striking down New York State's CCW law! Since our inception, SDCGO has made the case that carrying a firearm outside of your home for self-defense is your right. We have worked hard to make concealed carry more accessible in San Diego. Our success in San Diego was used as an example to the Supreme Court, and helped them make the right decision.
The Supreme Court's decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen is another clear message that the right to keep and bear arms is the right of the people. It is not a second class right. It is not only for certain people. We look forward to all the positive impact this will have on public policy and the positive impact this will have on an individual's ability to defend his or her life.
Stay tuned for more updates about what this means for CCWs.
Gun Prom was AH-MAZING!
We were blessed to be able to celebrate and honor the Second Amendment this past Saturday at the Town & Country Hotel with over 700 guests attending!
Thank you to those who attended and HUGE thank you to our sponsors and donors.
County Votes to Sue Gun Manufacturers and Gun Shops
As if suing manufacturers for the violence committed by criminals isn't bad enough, Supervisor Nathan Fletcher swept in at the last minute and added gun shops and gun distributors too! The Board of Supervisors has requested the county's lawyers to examine reports from the sheriff's office. If they see crimes committed with guns, they will look for ways to sue the manufacturer of the gun and/or the gun shop where the gun was purchased. The original proposal was bad enough; suing manufacturers for the decisions criminals make. It turned ludicrous when Fletcher, at the last second, made a motion to add gun shops and their distributors to the mix.
Make no mistake, this has nothing to do with public safety and was just an excuse to get Supervisors Fletcher and Lawson-Ramer in front of cameras. This won't stand up in court.
So, what can you do now? Join us so we can fight back and don't forget that Fletcher is running against SDCGO endorsed candidate Amy Reichert this November! Here is her website: https://amyforsandiego.com/
